Travel Unity: Resetting and Rebuilding Hospitality

When I was asked to speak on diversity and inclusion in the hospitality industry, during Travel Unity’s 2020 Virtual Summit, I knew I needed to call in a few friends. After all, I could only speak on my own experience.

When it comes to diversity and inclusion in hotels and the travel industry, I’ve learned so much from non-traditional hoteliers, who in many ways, have needed for forge their own paths, because there was no precedent. Moniqua Lane, owner of The Downtown Clifton, a boutique hotel in Tucson, Arizona, and Damon Lawrence, the founder of Homage Hospitality, the first hotel group dedicated to Black travelers, joined this discussion. We threw out the script. Take a listen.

Resetting and Rebuilding Hospitality

The hotel industry is facing big challenges…and a new kind of hospitality is emerging. This panel of hotel and travel professionals will share their own experiences as hoteliers, marketers, and visionaries.

Questions addressed:

  • Why is now the time to change how hotels are operated and marketed?

  • How can hotels adapt as the industry is reset and rebuilt?

  • What can hotels do to become true community partners?

  • How have these non-traditional hoteliers forged their own paths?

  • How can media and marketing support inclusivity efforts?

  • What's ahead for these hoteliers, and why?
